A Day of Birdies not Googlies
The Lancashire County Cricket Club and Foundation Golf Day sponsored by Thwaites and in partnership with Direct Golf started off a little on the wet side but that didn’t put off any of our teams and everyone turned out in force for a full day of golf at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club.
Teams from a variety of organisations including the Lancashire Cricket Board, Bowmer & Kirkland, Kukri, 3663, Optimum and Warburtons joined us for a full day of golf. We were also joined by the ‘Mersey Marvels’ a team of ex professional Liverpool FC footballers including Alan Kennedy, Gary Gillespie and Dave Johnson.
The course included three special ‘Charity Holes’ each of which had prizes for the Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Hit the Green which included hospitality tickets to a T20 or YB40 game at LCCC and Golfing equipment supplied by Direct Golf.
The rain cleared up and the sun came out just as our Ambassador Joe Hart joined us, we soon got him to work delivering some nice cold Thwaites beer around the course to refresh our teams.
After 18 holes the teams retired to the Country Club for dinner where Michelle Carney, Foundation Director thanked the teams for attending and handed over to LCCC to hand out prizes to the winners:
Nearest the Pin Charity Hole:
C Chambers, LCB
Longest Drive Charity Hole:
C Benbow, Optimum
Hit the Green Charity Hole:
D Mac, Thwaites; P McIntosh, Stella Sports; C Almond, JC Althams
Overall Team Winners:
2nd Place: LCB
1st Place: Warburtons
Congratulations to Warburtons, we had a great day and would like to thank everyone involved helping to raise funds for the Foundation, we look forward to seeing you all next year.
