Are you retired and want to stay active, meet new friends, have a chat, learn new skills and use the Internet?

Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation launched their brand new community fitness initiative, Lanky’s Activity Club, to coincide with UK Active’s National Fitness Day on the 26th September 2014 in a bid to get the local people of Trafford more active. The project has been funded by Awards For All (Big Lottery) through to September 2015 and will initially work with key partners, LCCC and Away Day Care, to develop weekly activity sessions aimed at anybody who is retired and looking to stay active, socialise and learn new skills. The sessions will take place at Emirates Old Trafford and will have a fun and relaxed atmosphere to them. Activities on offer will include Indoor Curling and Table Tennis and the sessions will also provide the opportunity for participants to socialise with peers and develop their IT and internet skills.

Sandy Mitchell, Head of Community Development for the LCCC Foundation said 'The development of Lanky's Activity Club helps us to expand our community offer and to provide more individuals with the opportunity to be inspired through cricket. If we can make a small difference to the lives of those who take part by helping them to increase their activity levels, learn a new skill or simply meet new friends then we will be very proud'.

Sessions are £2 and will take place at Emirates Old Trafford every Friday between 12.30pm – 2.30pm during term time. If you would like to come along and have some fun whilst getting active, please book your place by contacting the LCCC Foundations project lead, Kay Floyd on:
