Over 4,000 Schoolchildren To Watch LV= County Championship Cricket at Emirates Old Trafford
Club hosts schools open day on Day One of the match against Northamptionshire
EMIRATES OLD TRAFFORD will play host to over 4,000 schoolchildren from the local area on Day One of Lancashire's LV= County Championship match against Northamptonshire (Monday 29 June).
The day is part of ‘The Lancashire Way’ an exciting joint project which Lancashire County Cricket Club, LCCC Foundation and the Lancashire Cricket Board are undertaking throughout 2015. All three parties are working closely together to promote inclusivity and to raise the participation levels of cricket across our region through six key initiatives.
As well as watching high quality First Class cricket action on the day, the children will also take part in a whole host of physical, fun and educational activities in a specially created Activity Zone which will be operated by the LCCC Foundation, local community groups, RAF, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire Service and the Armed Forces.
Prizes will be presented throughout the day to some lucky schools including coaching sessions at our Indoor Cricket Centre, Thunderbolts memberships, signed merchandise and some pupils from Sandbrook Primary School for Rochdale will perform the Guard of Honour welcoming the teams out to play.
Ian Seddon, Education Manager for the LCCC Foundation said: “The Schools Open Day is a fantastic opportunity expose young people to the best of cricket, Emirates Old Trafford and the excellent work of the LCCC Foundation, Lancashire Cricket Board and LCCC. The event, an integral part of ‘The Lancashire Way’, enhances the great work already carried out by all three organisations, helping to engage and inspire different sections of the community across all levels of the cricketing spectrum”.
