Red Rose Players Spread Festive Cheer At Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

Players and staff from Lancashire County Cricket Club helped to spread some Christmas cheer at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Thursday afternoon when they dropped off some presents for the children.

Led by all rounder Tom Smith, the players took time out of their busy winter training schedule to visit children on each of the hospital's wards and hand out some early Christmas gifts that were kindly donated by the Stretford branch of Tesco.

Tom said: "The lads have been really looking forward to visiting Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and meeting some of the children.

"The staff at the hospital work tremendously hard all year round and we are delighted that we are able to spread a bit of cheer at this time of the year."

Tanya Hamid, Deputy Head of Charities at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital  Charity added: “We are thrilled that the cricketers have taken the time out of their very busy schedules to spread some festive cheer at the hospital. Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for children and their families who find themselves on the wards over the festive period. Visits like this really do make a huge different, we can’t thank Lancashire County Cricket Club enough for thinking of us at this time of year.”

The Club has also donated a table at one of its Christmas parties in The Point at Emirates Old Trafford later this month to the staff at the hospital to show its appreciation of their fantastic work.
