Emirates Old Trafford

To Host Schools Open Day

EMIRATES OLD TRAFFORD will play host to over 2,000 schoolchildren from all over the North West on Day Three of Lancashire's forthcoming LV= County Championship match against Northamptonshire (Tuesday 24 June).

The day will be part of ‘The Lancashire Way’ an exciting joint project which Lancashire County Cricket Club, LCCC Foundation and the Lancashire Cricket Board are undertaking throughout 2014. All three parties are working closely together to promote inclusivity and to raise the participation levels of cricket across our region through six key initiatives.

As well as watching high quality First Class cricket action on the day, the children will also take part in a whole host of physical, fun and educational activities in a specially created Activity Zone which will be operated by the LCCC Foundation, local community groups, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire Service and the Armed Forces.

Prizes will be presented throughout the day to some lucky schools including coaching sessions at our Indoor Cricket Centre, and pupils from Springfield Primary, Sale, will perform the Guard of Honour welcoming the teams out to play.

Ian Seddon, LCCC Foundation’s Education Manager, said: “It is fantastic to see Lancashire CCC throw open the gates to Emirates Old Trafford so schoolchildren and their teachers can have a fun day with us whilst hopefully learning a little bit about cricket and developing a desire to play more cricket.”
