The LCCC Foundation have teamed up with Thrive Trafford who, working with a number of other partners, are pleased to offer budding social entrepreneurs from across Trafford the opportunity to develop their social enterprise ideas into thriving social businesses in the Social Enterprise Challenge 2015.

Social enterprises are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community. So when they profit, society profits. Good isn’t it!

The Challenge, which will run over 4 days during late September/ early October, will provide training and support during which our social entrepreneurs will develop their business skills, including how to pitch and showcase their social enterprise idea to the business experts at our end of Challenge ‘dragons den’ style event.

Trafford Council will be providing the individual with the best social enterprise idea with a start up grant prize of £3,000, along with two runners up each winning £1,000, and with follow up support, mentoring, small grants, and training skills exchange from our private sector partners subsequently provided by Thrive.

This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in developing an idea into a new social enterprise, considering how they can make their voluntary group more financially sustainable through selling their services, or as a way through to self employment and a new and exciting career path.
