The Foundation at The Test Match

As well as the England team, the Foundation also had a successful three days over the course of the Test Match between England and India held here at Emirates Old Trafford. Supported by a brilliant team of volunteers, we met thousands of England and Indian fans who were all in good spirits and most importantly happy to support the Foundation by donating in some way.

On each day of the Test Match the Foundation had a stand in the Ground so visitors could come and find out more about the work the Foundation does in the community as well as take part in a number of activities and competitions. We shared the stand with representatives from Crimestoppers, the Army, the RAF, Age Concern and Boundaries for Life who all gave out information and advice to the crowds.

At the start of each days play a local school was given the opportunity to perform the Guard of Honour for the England team. Well done to Temple Primary School (Manchester), Allanson Street Primary School (St Helens) and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School (Liverpool) – we hope you enjoyed your moment in the spotlight!

Also getting onto the pitch on Day 2 were Chant Productions, a local choir who draw their members from schools and communities across Manchester. The LCCC Foundation are currently working with Chant Productions to combine music and sport to engage young people in positive activities. The choir performed a number of uplifting songs to the large crowd, giving them memories to last a lifetime.

We worked our pedometers into the ground over the three days too as we had staff selling wristbands and raffle tickets for the daily draw all over the ground – congratulations if you won with us!

We also made our first draw of our new partnership Friends of the Foundation, Although the Jackpot prize wasn't won, the first Money Can't Buy prize was.  It was won buy Georgina Davenport who was delighted.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us; we raised just under £13,000 which exceeded all our expectations for a shortened game. Thank you again and here’s to the next international fixtures at Emirates Old Trafford!
