LCCC Foundation welcomes schools for Health and Education Messages
The Foundation had a busy day on Friday the 10th January as we welcomed Pike Fold Primary School, Blackley for a ‘Lanky’s Guide to a Healthy Heart’ workshop and Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary in Wigan for an ‘Education without Boundaries’ session in the AJ Bell Player & Media Centre.
30 children from Pike Fold Primary School, Blackley learnt how to keep their hearts healthy, what makes up a healthy diet, why they should exercise and also about good and bad fats. They also made a healthy fruit snack rather than eating a usual high fat treat. They then took part in a one hour Kwik Cricket activity session in the state of the art Indoor Cricket Centre.
One pupil said ‘This was the best school trip I have ever been on’ and another exclaimed ‘Today was really good, I didn’t expect it to be this good, it was really fun, I learnt lots, enjoyed seeing the stadium and playing cricket’. The class Teacher said that the class had benefitted from taking part in the workshop and a Healthy Heart message was a great one to deliver to the children.
Meanwhile the Year 6 children from Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary in Wigan spent a fun filled day taking part in a ‘Lanky’s Literacy Club’ session. Their day included lots of interactive iPad literacy challenges, playing Cricket in the Indoor Cricket Centre and taking lunch whilst looking at one of the best views in Cricket from the Press Gallery in the AJ Bell Player and Media Centre.
Teachers and children left with a goodie bag having thoroughly enjoyed themselves and class teacher Andy Williams commented that the ‘Education Without Boundaries’ day had been ‘the best value for money school trip in his 5 years of teaching’.
The Foundation are looking forward to welcoming the school back soon to try one of the other Education Without Boundaries sessions which include Numeracy, Media and Fair Play.
