Heart Valve Voice become LCCC Foundation new Charity Partner
The LCCC Foundation is delighted to announce a new charity partnership with Heart Valve Voice to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of heart valve disease by raising awareness of its severity and the need for timely detection.
The two charities will team up to offer free heart valve check-ups for spectators led by healthcare professionals across the North West at the England vs. Pakistan Test Match, held at Emirates Old Trafford from the 22nd to the 26th July 2016.
The partnership will also see Heart Valve Voice sponsor the annual, high profile LCCC Foundation Gala Dinner and LCCC Player of the Year Awards taking place in The Point on the 29th September 2016 to help raise the profile of the condition.
Heart valve disease is a common, but treatable, heart condition where the heart valves no longer work properly. When the valves are diseased it can rapidly affect the pumping action of blood around the body. However, many patients do not suffer severe or visible symptoms, or put their symptoms down to the natural ageing process, making diagnosis difficult.
Wil Woan, CEO of Heart Valve Disease, said: “Many over 65’s mistakenly believe the symptoms of breathlessness, fatigue and chest pains are due to ageing. It is great news that through this partnership we can carry out valve disease check-ups at fixtures throughout the domestic and international cricket season at Emirates Old Trafford”.
Sandy Mitchell, Head of Community Development at LCCC Foundation, said: “Heart Valve disease affects many families and communities across the UK, with an ageing population we know that the number of people with heart valve disease is set to increase, and thanks to this important partnership, we have created the opportunity to inspire our colleagues and fans to come together and raise awareness of the disease.”
Heart Valve Voice is a patient-physician charity for people with heart valve disease.
