Looking for more Sport & Physical Activity Volunteers?
Join the Trafford Volunteer Inspire Programme
Thrive Trafford in partnership with The Trafford Strategic Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, through Greater Sport’s Volunteer Inspire Programme, are driving forward an initiative aimed at getting more people volunteering in Sport and Physical Activity.
The project involves the establishment of Trafford VIP (http://traffordvip.com) as both a single point of reference for Trafford residents interested in volunteering in sport, as well as positioning the site as an indespensable resource for providers of volunteer opportunities. We see this as a key element of our Be Bold . .. Be the Difference campaign, which encouarges residents to be more active in their local community www.traffordpartnership.org/BeBold
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME AND MY ORGANISATION?
All you need to do is register as a provider and then upload any volunteering opportunities you have based around Sport, or Physical Health & Wellbeing. This can range from administration roles to fundraising volunteer opportunities available throughout physical activity and sport sectors.
Trafford VIP and the wider Greater Sport Volunteer Inspire Programme system has over 7,000 volunteers looking for different opportunities to volunteer on. Once an opportunity is added to the system, this is then shared amongst the volunteers already on the system and through Thrive Trafford’s social media networks, which has a reach of over 2,000 followers!
It is also worth mentionning here that Manchester City Council have over 5,000 volunteers on their system!
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INVOLVED?
The first thing to do is to create a provider profile via the following link: http://traffordvip.com/vk/providers/registration_provider.htm
When your profile is live you will then need to upload your volunteer opportunities. It is advised that you make these as specific as possible so that the potential volunteers know exactly what would be expected of them. Please also look at this as an equitable transaction between volunteer and volunteer opportunity – in that benefits are evenly shared between both parties.
A good way to promote your volunteering opportunities and entice more people is through offering perks to the role; this could simply be that by volunteering within your sport’s club or group that they will make more friends and be able socialise with a variety of people, or it could be that by taking part in the role they would get a discounted membership or free t-shirt!

We look forward to working with you!
