Arriving at a sunny St Ambrose college on Wednesday lunch time,  stand in captain for the day Alex Heaton won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Jamie Smith and Kieran Lawton put on a big hitting opening stand of 60 before losing the wicket of Jamie Smith for 29.
St Ambrose bowling continued to struggle as a 120 run partnership between Kieran Lawton and Will Shuttleworth put Myerscough in a very healthy position. Will eventually departed for 44 including some huge hits. Then fell the wicket of Kieran Lawton for an extremely well grafted and at times scratchy 103. After that partnership was broken late hitting from Alex Heaton and Josh Fallows pushed Myerscough onto an impressive score of 214-4 off 20 overs. It would have been a tough task to chase it down if St Ambrose batted like they bowled.

Myerscough then took to the field with opening bowler Cameron Smith taking a fall with his first ball, he failed to recover and leaked runs through his 2 overs. An inspiring change of bowling bringing spin bowlers Brad Woolley and Hannah Jones into the attack took the sting out of the St Ambrose batting as they took three wickets each. To try and pin back the run chase even more Heaton brought on Shuttleworth but then had to bring him back of after his first over went for 17.  Arran McCabe joined the wickets taking the last 3 in one over as St Ambrose were dismissed for 77.

Another great team victory for an extremely strong Myerscough side. Next week we take to the field against Ellesmere College and Sale Grammar on Wednesday and then a 50 over encounter against Lancashire under 15’s on Friday at Ashton on Mersey. Any support would be welcome!
