LCCC Foundation helping to support the RKT Trust ‘Walking Wickets’

And they are off!!!       We are delighted to be supporting Joe and his team with their ambitious challenge; please read their story below:

We are a group of 5 friends with very close links to the RKT Trust. The RKT trust is a local charity set up after the sad death of Ryan Taylor back in 2013. The RKT trust raises money through lots of different events including race nights, T20 cricket matches and events such as the "Casino Night". These events are fantastic as they not only raise lots of money but they also bring the community together. The money raised from the RKT trust events go towards local charities in the Rochdale Area and aim to improve the lives of young people within our community, as well as supporting Papyrus a national charity, aiming to prevent suicide in the young. Some of the projects the trust has been involved in include the skate park in Milnrow Park, the childrens play area at Milnrow Cricket Club and Ryans Den at Rochdale Children's Moorland Home.

RKT Walking Wickets is another event that is aimed at raising money and raising the profile of the charity to hopefully raise more money in the future. The overall scope of the event is for 5 lads to walk from Old Trafford, Manchester to Trent Bridge, Nottingham and back to Milnrow Cricket Club. The overall journey is 150 miles. We plan to do the event in 6 days working out at around 25 miles per day. We are starting at Lancashire's ground, Old Trafford  due to a strong link with the Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation who are Lancashire's own charity and have been extremely helpful throughout our planning process, When we arrive at Trent Bridge we will watch the One Day International between England and Sri Lanka. The walk back to Milnrow Cricket Club brings close links with the lads involved as all are involved with the cricket club.

We set off on the  19th of June and hoping to arrive back on the 24th of June. We would love all the support we can get ranging from any donations to even joining us for part of the walk, to talking to us during our journey or during our time at Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and Milnrow CC.

We would like to thank everyone in advance for their continued support of the RKT Trust and any donations and support that is given. You can stay up to date with our journey by following RKT Walking Wickets on Facebook and on Twitter @RKTwalking.
